Traveling With Baby, Solo

Traveling With Baby, Solo

My son and I are in LA as you have probably gathered from the IG feed.   Even though I have been looking forward to this trip and spending time with my baby boy, I was a bit nervous about the 5 hour flight.  The last time we travelled with my son, it was to Mexico, so just a few hours and he was only 6 months old at the time.  It was relatively easy.

This time around, my son is talking, walking, is able to express wanting to eat and a whole host of other emotions and desires.  In general, he did exceptionally well but he did have his one off moments.  When we first boarded the plane, I explained to him we were on a plane since he always points them out in the sky but I don't think he grasped the concept really.  He was a little active but by the time we were ready to take-off, he was conked out and slept for a little over an hour.  I win!

By the time they were serving breakfast on the plane, he was up and active.  I did pack a few toys, books and small things to keep him occupied.  Probably too many books and by the time he had a meltdown from not being able to move around enough at the end of the flight, I was able to let him listen to Old McDonald (his fav song) on my phone before he passed out again for the last 40 minutes of the flight.

My takeaway from this??? It's all about being organized and prepared when traveling with baby!  Thing I did right:  packed lots of snacks and beverages for the flight. Thing I could have done better: packed more little toys to keep him occupied and charged up my IPad fully.

You live and you learn.
