#Datenight: Pegu Club & Jimmy's (Birthday Edition)
Last night, to celebrate my hubby's birthday, we had cocktails and chill time. One of my favorite things to do, and as mentioned before, so incredibly necessary for any married couple. Hanging with your spouse, with no children involved, is one of the best things you can do for your relationship. We went to Pegu Club in Soho, which has been around forever, At least 10 years. Yet, it is still one of the best cocktail places in NYC.
It's very dark in Pegu, so please excuse the generic site photos. I wanted to use them so you can get a sense of the place. It's definitely a date spot although there were a few groups towards the front. The dim lighting sets the mood for intimate conversation and the music is chill and jazzy. It gives you a modern oriental speakeasy vibe.
There are a lot of gin based cocktails on the menu but I went with the Daisy de Martinique, a rum cocktail and I also had the Vida Guayaba, a mezcal cocktail. I preferred the Daisy one because it was so refreshing and crisp. The perfect summer cocktail.
The second spot we hit was, Jimmy, a rooftop lounge at The James Hotel. As you would expect from any hotel bar in the city, Jimmy is swanky, posh and chic. However, the old school hip hop playing in the background gave me so much life. It had me nostalgic for my elementary school days. I can't recall the last time I jammed to De La Soul. Fun times.
I love this dress. The babydoll silhouette made me feel like a life-size doll. Especially since I paired the dress with my patent leather heels. The hidden platform on the shoes, coupled with the short length of the dress made my legs look even longer than they already are. Happiness!
